Summer began  with a golf tournament
Thank you!

Thank you to all our community event supporters. We could not offer the wonderful programs to the children, youth, adults and seniors without your generous support!

Nikkei Classic Golf Tournament kicked off on an overcast day in June and over 70 golfers came out to Richmond Golf & Country Club.  Thanks to the enthusiastic group of golfers, and to the generous sponsors, donors and volunteers, thousands of dollars was raised at this tournament.  A special thank you to Ken Yada, tournament organizer, who with his volunteers coordinated the event and made sure that all had lots of fun.  Next month we’ll report on the winners from the tournament.

To our donors, sponsors, and volunteers  – arigato gozaimasu.  The volunteers did a terrific job of planning the special holes, tracking the scores, giving out gifts, selling tickets, and much more. We salute you for your support.

September Fundraiser
From 2005 to 2007, the National Nikkei Museum and Heritage Centre held its annual Salute fundraising dinner, an event that has helped our Society raise funds to help produce the programs that so many people have enjoyed.  This year, because of the 20th Anniversary Redress Celebration, the Board of Directors opted not to compete and instead support the National Association of Japanese Canadian’s special dinner of September 20, 2008 to be held at the Centre’s Special Events Hall.  Since the dinner has always been an important source of revenue, the National Nikkei Museum and Heritage Centre will be hosting an auction at the dinner.  We sincerely hope that many of you who have attended the Salute Fundraising Dinner will come to the NAJC’s dinner and bid to your hearts content on wonderful items our staff and volunteer will have received from supportive businesses and individuals, while taking part in the festivities that are planned.  Our goal for the silent auction is $25,000, and we are currently working hard at bringing to you a selection of auction worthy products and services.

The Salute Fundraising Dinner will be returning again in 2009.  We hope that you will look upon it with anticipation as we do!  Many thanks for your support over the past 3 years.
