Tree of Prosperity
The National Nikkei Museum and Heritage Centre is a charity that makes a difference in our community. It honours our past, inspires our future and brings people together. The impact will fade unless we continue to raise funds for the Tree of Prosperity.
Each dollar raised helps the NNM&HC carry out its mission and sustain the heritage, history and cultural programs that thousands have come to enjoy.
In December 2004, the National Nikkei Museum and Heritage Centre launched the Tree of Prosperity, a fundraising campaign to raise $250,000 per year for five years. The Tree of Prosperity has reached its goal for the 2004/2005 campaign. The Tree of Prosperity already has $65,000 towards its 2005/2006 campaign goal. Though we achieved our goal in 2004/2005, the 2005/2006 situation is still urgent. The Heritage Centre and Museum needs more leaves to continue to impact the future. Each of us must keep giving back to the community that needs us now.
You can still add your leaf to the Tree IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!
In May 2007, donors selected a location and placed their leaf one by one on the Tree of Prosperity and kept Nikkei Heritage alive. Now the “Tree” waits in the foyer of the National Nikkei Museum & Heritage Centre for more leaves to be added.
The $250,000 raised yearly by the Tree of Prosperity helps support the day-to-day programs and services of the Centre & Museum. Through your gift, the National Nikkei Museum & Heritage Centre continues to be a place of sharing and a home of knowledge, offering cultural festivals, child development programs, Japanese culture and arts, and seniors activities and wellness.
The Tree of Prosperity received its first leaf in 2004 and has grown year by year; it is now entering its fourth year. If the program plans for 2008 are to be successful, more leaves are needed. Please add another leaf today.
Ways to help place your leaf on the Tree of Prosperity
Buy a leaf with an easy pledge plan tailor-made just for you.
Check to see how close your are if you have made previous donations to the tree – call the office at 604.777.7000.
You can make your donation through your workplace giving through the United Way Campaign. Provide our charitable number (133433946RR001) then allocate your donation to the Tree of Prosperity.
You can go on-line to www.canadahelps.org and type in National Nikkei Museum & Heritage Centre, follow the directions.
Changing your leaf colour is as simple as increasing your donation to another leaf colour level.
Get a group together to purchase the leaf. It is that easy select the colour you would like to purchase (call our office, we can assist you).
Have no idea what to buy for that person who has everything? How about a leaf on the Tree of Prosperity!
A leaf can be purchased in memory, in celebration of an anniversary or birthday.

$1,250 cost to showcase a special performance from Japan
$10 brings one student to Taiken’s “Survivor Talk”
$600 cost to co-sponsor performances
$50 brings one student to Japan Expo, a cultural experience
$5 for one child to attend a special event
