School Program volunteers
The Museum is currently seeking volunteers to assist with education programs. One of the education programs in need of volunteers is the field trip Taiken. This program lets students experience the history of Japanese Canadian interment and redress through a film, gallery tour, speaker and cultural activity. Volunteers of all ages are needed who are interested in speaking to youth about the Japanese Canadian experience, especially with regards to Japanese Canadian internment during World War Two. Volunteers could be an interment survivor, family member of survivor, or a student of Canadian history. Also needed are volunteers to teach Japanese cultural activities including Origami and Japanese Calligraphy. Field trips usually take place on weekdays and volunteers can come in as often as they choose.
